Wholesale Trade

Along with the retail trade industry, the wholesale trade industry is a significant component of the Australian economy and is divided into three main sectors: basic material wholesaling (the wholesaling of farm products, minerals, metals, chemicals and builders supplies); machinery, equipment and motor vehicle wholesaling; and personal and household goods wholesaling (food, drink and tobacco; textile clothing and footwear; and household goods).

Industrial High Pressure Water Cleaners (www.spitwaterqld.com.au) are sold by Spitwater Queensland, who have been proudly serving Queensland for the past 18 years with high quality pressure cleaners, vacuum cleaners, heaters, dryers and Allied Equipment.

Speed Humps Australia (www.speedhumpsaustralia.com.au) are a Brisbane-based company that produces speed humps for many different location types, because pedestrians and motor vehicles don’t mix!

Machinery, equipment and motor vehicle wholesaling was the largest component (about 40%) of the wholesale trade industry. In 2002–03, about 9,000 people worked for about 400 organisations wholesaling commercial vehicles, while just over 10,000 worked for 450 organisations wholesaling cars.
